Dearest Lovelies!

I am writing this to you while my toes unthaw. Hehe But It’s really not too cold out here!  This week has been SUPER busy and I love it that way.  Bettendorf has TONS of work to do, which I’m so grateful for! :0)  For service, we get to work at the Library and sort books for 2 hours!  As well as serve at the Family Museum and help little kids make fun crafts on Saturdays!  So it’s a blast here!

We are looking for a new apartment and will probablly move out in a couple of weeks into a member’s home!! Yeaya!  How neat is that? 🙂  We had two investigators come to church, Simone (mom) and Michelle (daughter).  Simone has the cutest southern accent, and Michelle grew up in Germany!  So they are super unique and fancy people.  We had amazing lessons with Paul this week and he’s still as sharp as a tack!  His girlfried told him to go play with his guy friends if he wanted, since he’d watched her kids at work and he said, “Umm…remember?  It’s Family Home Evening!!!”  And he planned a cute lil activity for everyone to do.  He’s so tender…in a manly macho way! Hahah  And that makes him really humble to teach. 🙂

We told him about Tithing (among other things) and I shared an experience of my faithful parents. 🙂  I told them that my parents lost all of thier investments and savings about 4 years ago due to a real estate crash in the market.  He was devastated and eventually lost his sucessful entreprenuer business.  At the end of the year, when they needed to declare if they were full-tithe payers or not, my dad told my mom that they didn’t know HOW they would make it through the next couple of months, but they were determined to pay their tithing anyways. When the bishop heard their dedication and faithful move, he broke down and cried.  He was touched by their trust in the Lord.  Ever since then, we have always been taken care of.  I told him that because of their example, I will always pay a full tithing because I know he takes care of His children. 🙂  He really liked that example….(Thanks Ma and Pa!!!)

We knocked on some doors (well…a lot of doors) this week since there aren’t very many members out in Le Claire, and we had some FUNNY responses.  One man told us he believed in God and Santa Clause.  Hahah my companion and I were just talking about how nice everyone is in the MIdwest and how we’ve never had a door slam, but a gentle close with a smile.  But the next day it happened. 🙂 WE GOT THE FIRST DOOR SLAMMED IN OUR FACE, YEAYAH!!! We “high-fived” it and moved on. 🙂  This one lady was so awesome!  Her name is Katie.  She’s 21, with a 3 year old boy.  She’s pretty rough around the edges and told us she was Wicken.  However, when she read Alma 34:32-35 after we asked her what the meaning of life is…she just completely opened up.  She said it spoke to her and she wanted to keep reading all night.  🙂 🙂 🙂 STAY TUNED FOR HER!! I’m feelin something awesome for her. Hehe 🙂

We took Sherry Dunn, a Recent Convert, to the family history center on Saturday.  She told us that before her dad passed away, He told her that he loved the Mormons.  He first encountered mormons when they helped his house in Hurricane Katrina.  After he met them, he quit smoking, and drinking coffee and alcohol!  So we were like, “Sista, you’ve gotta get him dunked!!”  We hope to be able to take her to the temple with her father’s name ASAP! 🙂 🙂  It was a really neat experience and I can’t wait to get more involved with family History.

SIs. Tucker and I plan, organize, and work until we can’t anymore! I’ve come to accept the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 123:12-13 where it says to “wear out”  your lives in the Service to God. 🙂  But that’s what I signed up for and I love it! 🙂

Thanks for everything you do to support missionaries! 🙂  I sure love each one of you. 🙂
