Beauty Redefined is the academic and personal passion of Lexie Kite and Lindsay Kite, 29-year-old identical twins with PhDs in the study of media and body image. We have a passion for helping girls and women recognize, reject and resist harmful messages about their bodies and what “beauty” means and looks like. Beauty Redefined represents our not-for-profit work through the Beauty Redefined Foundation (501(c)(3)) to promote positive body image for girls and women everywhere through research-backed online education (including our blog and our 8-Week Body Image Resilience program), sharing empowering posts through social media (prominently via our Facebook page, Twitter @takebackbeauty, and Instagram @beauty_redefined), and through popular speaking engagements in both secular and religious settings, from universities and high schools to professional conferences and church congregations for all ages. Our co-authored master’s thesis and complementary doctoral dissertations form the basis for our empowering visual presentation, which we have offered to tens of thousands of people across the U.S. since 2009.
