I am an MPA graduate hoping to change the world (or at least try). I love music with really tight harmonies and love playing the piano in the dark. I love learning; in particular I enjoy learning of cultures, world religions, and history. I have visited over 90 religious sites throughout the world (including Buddhist, Catholic, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish, Mormon, Orthodox, and Quaker) and always enjoy visiting these significant buildings.

“Mormon Rivals”: (Blocks 2 and 3)
Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman Jr. once considered each other allies. Their powerful fathers were friends, and the ties between their families extend back to the 1830s and the founding of the LDS Church. That chummy relationship devolved into a rivalry in 2006, when Huntsman endorsed Sen. John McCain for president. The rift has never healed.
The 2012 presidential clash between Romney and Huntsman is well documented, but this book by Salt Lake Tribune reporters Matt Canham and Thomas Burr goes deeper than debate sniping and campaign bickering. These pages tell the story of two dynamic and dynastic families, who have found themselves driven together by chance, business, politics and piety. While both Romney and Huntsman have fallen short of the ultimate political prize, their successes on the national stage have become a turning point for a faith yearning for broader acceptance.
Matt Canham and Thomas Burr are political reporters for The Salt Lake Tribune and close friends. They staffed the Washington, D.C., bureau together for seven years before Canham returned to Utah in 2014. They also collaborated (with Tribune reporter Robert Gehrke) on “Mia Love: The Rise, Stumble and Resurgence of the Next GOP Star,” a book The Tribune published in November 2014.
Canham is an investigative reporter, who specializes in campaign coverage, money in politics and data analysis. He covered Jon Huntsman’s first years as Utah’s governor and assisted in the newspaper’s coverage of the 2012 presidential race. He’s a recipient of the National Press Club’s Regional Reporting Award.
Burr is the Washington correspondent for The Tribune and covered Mitt Romney’s two White House runs as well as Jon Huntsman’s short-lived presidential campaign. A native Utahn, and Washingtonian since 2005, Burr is vice president of the National Press Club and a member of the Gridiron Club and Foundation and the White House Correspondents’ Association. He is a three-time winner of the Press Club’s Regional Reporting Award.
