For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Matthew Jelalian.

A couple months ago I wrote an article entitled “6 Weird Things You Wouldn’t Expect at BYU’s Bookstore

And guess what?

I FOUND MORE STUFF!

Here are seven books that seem a bit out of place in BYU’s Bookstore.

1. This Apostate Book

I found a copy of the Golden Compass, the refutation of C.S. Lewis’s entire body of work.

For those of you who don’t know, Lewis is basically the fourteenth apostle (the thirteenth is Bruce R McConkie.)

And Pullman’s atheism is just sitting there mucking up Brigham’s bookstore.

Shocking isn’t it?

2. Pinko Commie Propoganda

That’s right, you can find Bernie Sanders’s book at BYU.

President Ezra Taft Benson must be more outraged right now than a Deacon who realizes there will be no pizza after a service project.

3. The Evolution Is cool Book

OK, this book isn’t really that weird but I had to include it.

I remember being taught that evolution couldn’t possibly be true if the Gospel was true. I remember my temple prep teacher warning me to “watch what I learned about” after I mentioned Charles Darwin in my going away talk.

And now BYU sells books by members of the church saying we evolved from apes.

The times are a-changing.

4. Secret History

Ask anyone in the #ApoStake and you’ll find out how often the church deviously hides it’s history from it’s dumb-head members.

Some brave soul leaked a copy of this book to the public and now you can buy it.

I hope someone does before “LDS INC” catches on.

5. I Don’t Even Know

I’m not sure what this is really but here’s what IMDB has to say about it.

“Deep in the heart of Utah, commonly referred to as “Happy Valley,” residents enjoy one of the lowest crime rates, highest literacy and language fluency – even the most jello consumption – across the nation. Yet under the glossy exterior of this beautiful community, there are less popular categories that Happy Valley contends in but doesn’t advertise, including prescription drug abuse, double the national average of anti-depressant drugs, even suicide. In Happy Valley at least one teen per week dies from drug overdose. The real-life true story, Happy Valley, sheds light on the growing problem of prescription drug abuse in Utah County and, as importantly, the associated issues of denial, conformity, social pressure and guilt. The film intimately follows several lives and families that have been dramatically affected by prescription drug abuse leading to street drug abuse and addiction. From these stories and a single father’s journey to reunite a family emerge unconditional love, forgiveness, acceptance… even transformation.”

6. This Super Gay Book

But really. It’s super gay.

It’s a history of LGBTQQIP2SAA protests for equal rights written by a very influential LGBT activist.

First they took all the colours as their own. Then They took half the alphabet. Now they’re taking over BYU’s bookstore!

7. Smiling Apostates

Like the Evolving Faiths book, this isn’t really that weird.

But I have seen some Mormons say they could never vote for Rubio because he left our Church for the Catholic church… when he was 11.

I’m more than certain some people would find this book inappropriate.
