As many are probably aware of by now, Elder Bednar made some comments about LGBT members of the church.
Here’s what he said.
Lot’s of people are angry at Elder Bednar for saying this.
But I’m not sure I agree with everyone. In fact, I think Elder Bednar didn’t go far ennough.
Let’s mention some other groups of people that don’t exist in the church bsides LGBT members.
1. There are no black people in the Church
Additionally, there are no Latinos, Asians, Caucasians or Semitic people in the church.
2. There are no women in the Church

Nor are there men, boys or girls. There are no 2-spirits, otherkin or a-sexual people in the Church either.
3. There are no young people in the Church
No one in the church is young, old or middle-aged.
4. There are no Democrats in the Church

Nor are there Republicans, Libertarians, anarcho-capitalists, socialists, conservatives, liberals or members of the Green Party.
5. There are no inactive members of the Church
The fact is, we’re all seen as equal in the eyes of God. We’re all of his children who are at various stages in our spiritual progression.
Our identifiers are not God’s identifiers.
He sees us as his children and wants us to act accordingly. He does not care if your hair is red or if your skin is black or if your face is wrinkled.
Any one identifier cannot completely define who we are, with exception to being God’s children. He cares that we follow the commandments. He cares that we draw close unto him. He cares that we do everything in our power to do his will
That’s how God looks at us. That’s how God identifies us.
I’m not me because I’m white. My wife isn’t her because she’s a woman. Alex Boye is not himself because he’s black.

I feel like Elder Bednar’s statement was incredibly clear.
He wasn’t being literal. He was making a point that God doesn’t look at us the way we look at us. He looks at us in a higher, better, more spiritually fulfilling way.
So let’s stop with the faux outrage.
